On Thursday March 13th, 2008, The Boston Young Leaders hosted its annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration. A lively crowd of over 400 guests filled the State Room atop of 60 State Street. This year the Boston Young Leaders chose to support two meaningful projects; Camp Harbor View of Boston and Corrymeela Youth through Community of Northern Ireland.

Camp Harbor View offers children ages 11 to 14 who live in Boston’s at-risk neighborhoods the opportunity to leave the city and participate in a four-week summer camp program. Offering the traditional activities that summer camp is known for, such as hiking, arts and crafts, and swimming, Camp Harbor View also includes programs that strive to build children’s academic and leadership strengths.

Corrymeela is a project that promotes reconciliation and peace-building through the healing of social, religious and political divisions in Northern Ireland. Its YOUTH in COMMUNITY project is a cutting edge program of personal and social development that enables young adults 18-25 years old to develop and facilitate their own modular community relations/good relations programs, focused on the section 75 agenda (1998 NI Act) based on the principles of equity, diversity and interdependence, for local youth & community groups in highly marginalized areas.

Event co-chairs, Kevin Daley of Pinnacle Foods Corp, Alicia Erickson of Hill Holiday and Lauren Phelan Lipscomb of CB Richard Ellis presented representatives of the Camp with a check that represented the great fundraising efforts put in by the Young Leaders. Major Thomas Menino joined the party to thank the Boston Young Leaders for supporting two great projects.

Throughout the evening guests mix and mingled as they were entertained by an Irish Trio and the dance band Nightshift.

It was a fantastic evening and we would like to thank all of our corporate supporters and guests. A special thank you goes out to the St. Patrick’s committee for all of their work in supporting The American Ireland Fund.
