Halloween saw the return of Desmond Fitzgerald,
28th Knight of Glin,
Limerick Ireland to Dallas Texas. The Knight visits
the US annually to
highlight historic preservation needs in Ireland.
The welcome party for general membership of the
Irish Georgian Society
(IGS), was held at The Lady Primrose at the Crescent
Court. It was
hosted by honorary co-chairs Caroline Rose Hunt and
Vivian Young. A
raffle for a weeks stay in Ireland was the highlight
of the evening. The
Knight pulled the winning ticket ably aided by Mary
Ann Perryman, who as
usual stirred up the pot!
The Halloween party for the Knights of the Roundtable
of the IGS on
October 31st was held at the historic Aldridge House
on Swiss Avenue.
The Knight spoke on current historic preservation
projects and inducted
several new Knights. A wonderful zany time was had
by all masked and
unmasked guests, thanks to Bobbie Sue Williams and
her committee - Vicki
Howland, Giesla Ziebarth, Susan Cooper, and our own
Mary Ann Perryman in
full gypsy regalia.
He had a delightful reunion with old friend Nancy
O'Boyle and was
delighted to meet incoming Irish Georgian Society
(Texas chapter)
president Mary Lee Cox. He announced the elevation
of current president,
Bobbie Sue Williams to the national board and thanked
her for her
leadership in Texas over the past six years.
