The American Ireland Fund Texas Regional Advisory Board
gathered at the Tucker Residence for a Cinco de Mayo party
for all attending the Bono lecture on Africa. Page Tucker
is on the Texas Regional Advisory Board and a huge Bono (from the
Irish rock band U2) fan.
After many margaritas we all left for the Texas State Music Hall to be among
the 4,000 people gathered there to hear Bono.
Page Tucker, Carolyn Farb and Mike Corboy were among
the chosen few to actually meet the Great Man. They brought greetings to him
from Kingsley Aikins, President and CEO, The Worldwide Ireland Funds; Loretta
Brennan Glucksman, Chairman, The American Ireland Fund and Caitriona Fottrell,
Director Ireland, The Ireland Funds and from his good friend Mick Bailey the
Dublin developer who was in Dallas the week before for the Ross Perot McKillop
Irish Spirit Award.
The American Ireland Fund Texas were one of the sponsors,
thanks to the generosity of Mike Corboy, Luanne Tierney and Don Hanratty . We
got top billing along with ExxonMobil and Bono was delighted with The American
Ireland Fund participation. We all came away with a great feeling of pride in
this Irishman who is recognized worldwide for his compassion and caring and with
a new realization that we in the United States should have a focus on Africa.
