The McKillop Irish Spirit Award, founded and funded by
Ross Perot to honor his friend Harry McKillop, was awarded
this year to Sister Pauline Mullen at a Black Tie dinner
in Dallas April 29. Sister Pauline of Our Friends Place
in Dallas was honored for her lifelong selfless dedication
to helping young, at-risk women find their place in society
through residential counseling.
Sister Pauline’s entire family came to Dallas from
Ireland and New York to celebrate the occasion. Kingsley
Aikins, CEO of The Ireland Funds Worldwide, by special
request of Harry McKillop, was the Master of Ceremonies
for the weekend celebration, which began with a BBQ at
the McKillop residence in McKinney and culminated in a
Black Tie dinner at the Westin Galleria Dallas.
Also
flying in from Ireland for the occasion to honor Harry
and Sister Pauline were Irish developers Mick Bailey, Lee
Mallaghan, Terry Browne, Ivor Fitzpatrick, Ged Pierse,
Liam O’Hagan, Tony Whitehead, Bryan Roe, Sean McKeon,
John Prescott Jr, Kevin Smyth, and Father Simon Sleeman
from Glenstal Abbey. AIF Board members and supporters
were part of the celebration led by Mike Corboy.
