On Monday, October 1st, The Fifth Annual AIF New Jersey Golf Classic was held once again on the hallowed grounds of Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.

Led by the tireless efforts of Chairman, Anthony Callaghan, this esteemed event reached new heights as a record $175,000 was raised bringing the total in just six years to over $600,000. Anthony and The American Ireland Fund President, Kieran McLoughlin, welcomed the record crowd to this most regal of golf outings and announced the support for special projects in Northern Ireland focused on youth in this historically troubled area of the world. The designated beneficiary of the event, Naíonra Fhánada, is a shining example of the mission of The AIF as it provides aid those with needs resulting from various disabilities. Additionally, in the broader scope of the decline of rural Ireland, Naíonra Fhánada is committed to working with the community in the spirit of ecumenism to buck this trend and act as a vehicle to preserve the area's unique identity and pass it on to a rejuvenated, more diverse generation.

Among the highlights of the evening event was the presentation of the AIF Leadership Award to Anthony Callaghan and Mike Higgins for their guidance and spirit in establishing this as one of the premier charitable golf events worldwide.
