The American Ireland Fund  |  New York
New York enjoys a vibrant, dynamic Irish-American community committed to the work of The American Ireland Fund (AIF).

Energized by the fast-paced pulse of the capital of the world, New York AIF supporters are boldly expressing their vision of a contemporary Irish Diaspora inspired by tradition, yet infused with modernity.

New York Regional Advisory Board
The New York Regional Advisory Board is the first regional advisory board within The American Ireland Fund. It meets twice a year to guide and direct the organization in this major marketplace. At its recent June 2007 meeting, the board reviewed the successful implementation of the New York Development Plan thus far and discussed the future direction of the Funds.

Programs
Programs initiated by the board — the first of its kind within the Fund — include the launch of the Leadership Forum and the introduction of the Gallery Circle.

Additionally, the New York Young Leaders program has been relaunched and a New York WineGeese Society chapter has been established.

Young Leaders

“In their hands, the future of The American Ireland Fund is not just safe, but exciting and inspiring. They are the philanthropic heroes of tomorrow.”
Young Leaders Patron Bob McCann

Gallery Circle
The Gallery Circle is designed to provide donors with the opportunity to experience a deeper connection with Irish culture through the arts.

The Gallery Circle saw the engaging performance of Donal O'Kelly in Catalpa at The Irish Arts Center. The show is an Off-Broadway piece that tells the true story of the American sea captain, George Anthony, who in 1875 set forth in the whaling ship Catalpa to rescue six Irish Fenian prisoners from the penal colony in Fremantle, Australia
Leadership Forum
The Leadership Forum is an occasional series of round table discussions with Ireland's political, economic and cultural leaders that offers AIF supporters the opportunity to receive "off-the-record" news about current affairs in Ireland.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly joined The American Ireland Fund as the guest speaker at their Leadership Forum. Commissioner Kelly spoke to the Fund's leading New York supporters about the status of the city's security and its preparedness in the event of an emergency.
The WineGeese Society
The term Winegeese is inspired by the story of the Wild Geese — a romantic term coined to describe a group of émigrés who fled Ireland after the Battle of Kinsale in the 17th century. Many of these families settled in France and established successful wineries throughout the Irish Diaspora.

The WineGeese Society in the beautiful surroundings of L&M Art Gallery, the New York chapter of the WineGeese gathered to celebrate art and wine as an entity for its most recent event, Paint & Palate.
