On Thursday, December 1st, The American Ireland Fund New York Young Leaders embraced the holiday season at “A New York Celtic Christmas” celebration, held at Moran’s Chelsea in New York City. Sponsored by Tourism Ireland, the evening evoked a traditional holiday celebration with modern Irish themes - crackling terf fires accompanied The Pogues' “Fairy Tale of New York”.

The AIF Young Leaders celebrated an outstanding year - one that included events featuring Bono and an Taoiseach Bertie Ahern. Most significantly, the group raised $100,000 in support of Irish programs dedicated to peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development. This milestone achievement reflects the dynamism and promise of the Young Leaders.

The evening’s toast was led by Consul General Tim O’Connor, who applauded the Young Leaders for their commitment to Irish and Irish American causes and interests. Young Leader Damian DeSola won the grand raffle prize - a Luxury Holiday to Ireland for two, including round trip airfare and four nights stay at Dublin’s 5 star Merrion Hotel.

It was also announced that the New York Young Leaders will host their annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Wednesday, March 15th.
