Under a perfect New York summer sky, the New York Young
Leaders beat the heat with cool drinks, fine food and swinging
music at their “Summer in the City” celebration
on Wednesday, July 19. The venue was the spectacular rooftop
terrace of the Steelcase building at Columbus Circle which
provided stunning views of Central Park. The summer theme
was reflected in the draw prizes which included weekend
trips to two “Irish Riviera” summer destinations
- Montauk, Long Island and Spring Lake, New Jersey.
Young Leader Damian DeSola spoke about reasons for his
involvement with The American Ireland Fund, saying it is
one of the most dynamic non-for-profits he has experienced
which makes a real difference in Ireland. Responding, AIF
Vice President Kieran McLoughlin thanked Damian and his
colleagues at the DeSola Group for designing the AIF regional
newsletter - the “New York Minute”.
The 150
guests through their generosity ensured that at this
halfway point in 2006, the Young Leaders have already raised
twice the revenue generated in 2005 which in itself was
a record breaking year.
