On March 6th in the beautiful surroundings of
L&M Art Gallery, the New York chapter of
the WineGeese gathered to celebrate art and wine
as an entity for its most recent event, Paint & Palate.
Kieran McLoughlin introduced Irish art historian,
Elizabeth Martin, who took us on a visual tour
of the Provencal, Parisian, Brittany and Normandy
regions of France through examining paintings
by renowned Irish artists, Lavery, Hone, O’Connor,
Osborne and Leech. Each of these artists has
composed landscapes in these particularly beautiful
regions of France. Through her discussion guests
were treated to a little bit of Irish culture
and history.
To tie it all together, wine expert Mary Gorman
helped us explore our palates while tasting six
different wines and champagnes from the mentioned
regions of France. Mary described the flavors
and body of each wine, allowing the guests to
imagine the landscape of the regions from which
they have been produced. It was a unique way
to tie in the Irish artwork to the WineGeese’s
niche.
American Ireland Fund Chairman, Loretta Brennan
Glucksman and WineGeese Co-Chair Ken Gorman thanked
guests for coming to be a part of another successful
WineGeese celebration.
