Glucksman Ireland House : June 1, 2005

The American Ireland Fund, in conjunction with the Ireland-US Council, hosted a farewell reception for Irish Honorary Consul Eugene Hutchinson and his wife Adele in the Glucksman Ireland House on Wednesday June 1st.

Eugene has been appointed Irish Ambassador to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.

Loretta Brennan Glucksman, Chairman of The American Ireland Fund, and Mike Gibbons President Ireland-US Council, presented Eugene and Adele with commemorative gifts of their time here. They both spoke of the tremendous impact the Hutchinsons have had in New York.

Eugene and Adele said that, while they were looking forward with great anticipation, they will miss hugely representing Ireland in, “The capital of the world” and also their many many friends here.

As Yeats said, “think where man's glory most begins and ends and say my glory was I had such friends”.
