The New York Chapter of The
American Ireland Fund hosted a breakfast with Ireland’s
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D.
The first in a series of Round Table discussions
with Ireland’s political, economic and cultural
leaders, the breakfast provided a forum for New York
business leaders to stay informed of the critical
issues affecting contemporary Ireland. The meeting
also afforded an opportunity to address the key concerns
of Irish America.
Attended by over fifteen AIF New York regional board
members, topics included the peace process in Northern
Ireland, the importance of integrated education,
and philanthropy in Ireland today. Ireland’s
Consul General Tim O’Connor and Secretary General
Dermot Gallagher also attended the breakfast.
Throughout his diplomatic career, The Minister has
been involved with the Irish peace process, European
Integration and the deepening of US/Irish relations.
He thanked The American Ireland Fund for the constant
support of over three decades of integrated education
throughout Ireland and highlighted the AIF’s
initiatives.
