Tonight, March 7th, the inaugural meeting of the
American Ireland Fund’s Gallery Circle took
place - hosted by Irish Consul General, Tim O’Connor,
at his splendid residence.
The evening was centered around a talk by Elizabeth
Martin entitled Patronage, Politics and Paintings.
Elizabeth, with humor and animation, reviewed the
last 300 years of Irish paintings. She revealed the
splendor of a medium in which the contribution of
the Irish has been under appreciated.
A special guest at the event was award winning Irish
actor, Gabriel Byrne, who is a passionate champion
of Irish heritage and its promotion and preservation.
The purpose of the Gallery Circle is to provide
a deeper connect with Irish art and also to thank
our supporters for their incredible generosity, not
least to arts based programs across the island.
