Over the past two years, the New York Young Leaders
have enjoyed a dramatic reinvigoration, including
a
twenty-six-fold increase in revenue. But it is perhaps
the AIF Mentoring Program—an initiative pairing
established AIF supporters with Young Leader Patron
Members—that has garnered the most attention.
The innovative program allows Young Leaders to connect
with the Funds’ most ardent supporters—leaders
from the financial, marketing and legal sectors—while
ensuring the continuity of the AIF’s culture
of philanthropy.

The program is designed so that each Young Leader
Patron is assigned an established AIF supporter.
The pair meets throughout the year and discusses
a myriad of issues—there is no formal agenda.
Young Leader Kevin Murray remarks, “Sitting
down with AIF Board Member Kip Condron and
discussing a range of topics—from business
to philanthropy to sports—is an opportunity
you can’t put a price tag on”.
Similarly,
Young Leader Joe Berry has benefited enormously from
meeting with his mentor, AIF Board Member and Patron
of the Young Leaders Bob McCann.
Joe comments, “It
has been exceptionally helpful to receive an outside
perspective on my career from Bob. I truly admire
his business and philanthropic accomplishments”.
For many, the open dialogue has sparked a genuine
personal connection—a hallmark of The American
Ireland Fund experience.
As Bob McCann reflects, “the
AIF Mentoring Program provides a forum for board
members to share their experiences and offer guidance
to the next generation of AIF leaders. It also gives
Young Leaders the opportunity to express their fresh
ideas. It’s an exciting exchange of information
and inspiration.”
