The Fondest of Fond Farewells : 3.13.07

Leading members of The American Ireland Fund in New York gathered to bid a fond farewell to Ireland’s Consul General, Tim O’Connor and his wife Marta. 

Mr O’Connor returns to Ireland to take up the position of Secretary General to President McAleese

The O’Connor’s have been in New York for less than two years.  But in that short time they provided the Irish community with a source of inspiration, motivation and focus of identity that other ex patriot communities can only envy.

Described as a “force of nature”, Tim generated such energy and goodwill and will leave an enormous legacy behind.

The O’Connor’s were great friends to the Fund and constantly promoted their priorities.  In recognizing this, Loretta Brennan Glucksman presented Tim and Marta the Fund’s Achievement award.  She wished them a safe journey home with affection and admiration.
