The latest speaker at the American Ireland Fund’s Leadership Forum was the British Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Shaun Woodward, MP. 

The Secretary of State reflected on the momentous events of May 8th when devolved Government, presided over jointly by Nationalists and Unionists was established in Northern Ireland.

In a candid and comprehensive briefing, he told the American Ireland Fund’s guests about the challenge of transferring policing and justice powers to the Executive in Belfast.  He also spoke about the tremendous investment opportunity which Northern Ireland represents. 

Over a series of questions and answers it became clear that the support from bodies like the American Ireland fund is as crucial as ever to help the people of Northern Ireland as they transform their society politically, socially and economically
