EU Ambassador discusses World Events
John Bruton, Ambassador of the European Union
to the US and former Irish Taoiseach addressed
The American Ireland Fund Leadership Forum.
In a very frank and comprehensive review of
world affairs, he spoke of:
- Increases in food prices worldwide
- The ascent of China, India and the
Middle East
- Internal European Affairs
A lively dialogue with guests ensued, the
conclusion of which was that tumultuous change
is likely in world events over the next two
decades.
Ambassador Bruton, who was a key player in
the Irish Peace Process, spoke of the lessons
Ireland can provide the world in conflict resolution.
In recognition of Ambassador Bruton’s
participation, Loretta Brennan Glucksman presented
him with a copy of the Flight Path. The Flight
Path was published on the occasion of the 25th
Anniversary of the American Ireland Fund Literary
Award and includes extracts by each of the
winners. It is a veritable constellation of
Irish writing talent. The book was published
privately and limited to 500 copies.
