The ever growing Philadelphia
American Ireland Fund held its second annual Big Five
Basketball event at the legendary Palestra at the
University of Pennsylvania. The
winter chill was warmed inside the hallowed walls of
the University of Pennsylvania as 35 guests, both existing
supporters and new, feasted on traditional Philly cheese
steaks as well as variations of this local delicacy. The
evening was highlighted by the emotional return to Penn
of legendary coach Fran Dunphy whose Temple Owls gave
the Quakers all they could handle before falling short
in the final seconds.
The AIF was very honored
to have members of our newly-formed Regional Advisory
Board – Carol Fitzgerald, Michael
McCabe, Ed Robertson and John Kent – as well as
the Honorable Jim Fitzgerald who was recently nominated
to serve of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
