Philadelphia 3rd Annual Big 5 Basketball - 2.4.2008

On February 4, 2008, The American Ireland Fund’s Philadelphia Golf Committee attended one of the most anticipated games of the Big 5 season: “The Holy War” between St. Joseph’s University and Villanova University.

Fifty-five committee members and guests joined the roaring sold-out crowd at the Palestra to watch these two archrivals go head-to-head. In the end, the “Hawks” of St. Joes were the victors over the Villanova “Wildcats.”

Kingsley Aikins, CEO and President of The Ireland Funds, joined the committee at a reception before the game to help kick-off the 2008 Philadelphia Golf Classic. He introduced the crowd to PeacePlayers International and talked about the Ireland Funds’ initiative to support the great work this organization is doing with youth in Northern Ireland.

The 2008 Philadelphia Golf Classic will take place on Monday, September 15, 2008 at The ACE Club, The Philadelphia Cricket Club, and Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.
