For the fourth year in a row, it was a spectacular autumn
afternoon as the The AIF Philadelphia chapter hosted its
most successful golf event to date. This dedicated group,
who has built a reputation through The Worldwide Ireland
Funds as the benchmark of golf events, reinforced their
repute by raising a record $300,000 as 264 golfers descended
upon the majestic courses at The ACE Club and Philadelphia
Cricket Club.
In just four short years, the Philadelphia
chapter has raised a staggering $950,000 while continuing
to expand its presence. This year alone, 75 new members
joined in support of the AIF, with 55 of them participating
for the first time in the Fall classic.
Following in an exclusive line of Golf Classsic Chairmen,
Joe McLaughlin, with his Deputy Chairman, Dennis Durkin,
led the efforts that culminated in this extraordinary
day. One of the highlights of the day was Joe's presentation
of the AIF Recognition Award to Patrick J. O'Connor,
President and CEO of Cozen O'Connor. Patrick was the
Chairman of the inaugural event in 2001 and continues
to play a key role in the success of this event as well
as the ever increasing AIF presence.
On behalf of this year's Golf Committee and The American
Ireland Fund, we thank all who have made this a most
successful event and look forward to a bright future.
