Before there was March Madness,
there was some Philly fervor at The Palestra
as The Big 5 celebrated its 50th Anniversary! As
part of the festivities, archrivals Villanova and
St. Joseph's squared off on February 7th in front
of over 60 supporters and friends of the Philadelphia
chapter of The American Ireland Fund.
With many of The American
Ireland Fund's members attending being alumni/alumnae
of either school, there was plenty of the old college
spirit in the air as these two storied basketball teams
battled each other. In the end, the nationally
ranked Wildcats from Villanova prevailed setting up
a heated rematch for next year!
Adding to the evening
was the presence of our members' families and many
new faces who we hope will join this remarkabe group
of supporters.
