Guests will include the newly
formed Regional Advisory Board comprised of key
business leaders in the greater Philadelphia area
who have taken an active role in establishing the
AIF presence and who have shown a strong commitment
to its success and continued growth.
This event will also commemorate the establishment
of The Philadelphia Fund.
This comes chiefly as a result of the vibrant Irish-American
community in greater Philadelphia embracing The
American Ireland Fund's focus on the establishment
of peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
Through the Belfast Peace Agreement, peace has
been achieved but the two communities have yet
to be reconciled. With less than 6% of Catholic
and Protestant children being educated together,
the Philadelphia Fund will provide a rare opportunity
to make a visible and lasting contribution to the
betterment of society in this historically troubled
area of the world.
These Leadership Forums will assist the Regional
Advisory Board in discerning where future funds
raised will be allocated. These gatherings will
focus on drawing leaders from Northern Ireland
and The Republic of Ireland to hear and share opinions
and ideas on a better future for those in our ancestral
homeland.
