On a splendid late summer afternoon, overlooking stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Sakonnet Passage, Newport National Golf Club played host to the Inaugural AIF Rhode Island Golf Classic.  This modern links style course provided a fitting and challenging venue for the 68 golfers who descended upon pastoral Middletown, RI on September 12th.

Led by Chairman Mike Hogan, V.P. of Sovereign Bank, and Mike Fox of J.R Hess & Company, the Golf Classic raised more than $67,000 making the Rhode Island Classic one of the most successful inaugural golf events in the history of The American Ireland Fund.

As part of the AIF's gratitude for the support of the vibrant Irish-American community in Rhode Island, The Rhode Island Irish Famine Memorial and Newport Ancient Order of Hibernians were awarded with some of the proceeds from our event.

We are proud to support the goals of these organizations whose members, like those of the AIF, give of their time and substance to preserve the history and culture of the Irish as well as assist those underprivileged seeking an education.
