Chairmen Jerry Coughlan and Pat Connors welcomed over 700 guests to San Diego’s twenty-second annual Gala, held this year on March 12 in the Elizabeth Room at The Manchester Grand Hyatt.on San Diego Bay.

Present among the guests were 3 Marine captains, including Captain Brian Rooney, just returned from tours of duty in Iraq. Upon recognition by the chairmen, they were given a long standing ovation by the crowd.

The evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction featuring sports memorabilia, trips, jewelry, and art work. Dinner followed, highlighted by the presentation of The Robert A. MacNamara Literary & Arts Award to Michael Thorsnes, and The Heritage Award to Dan Shea. Each presentation featured a special video tribute to the honoree.

The Celtic Tenors, direct from Dublin, provided the entertainment. Dancing to the music of Rockola completed the evening’s celebration in the Elizabeth Room and many continued on to the traditional sing-a-long held after the Gala.
