On Sunday night, June 6 2004, this year's honoree,
Jack O'Brien, the first person to be awarded The
Robert
A. MacNamara
Literary & Arts Award at the 2004 San Diego American
Ireland Fund Gala & Auction, won a Tony Award
as Best Director, (his second) for his work on Henry
lV last season. The play itself won a Tony for Best
Revival.

Award
The American Ireland Fund has created this new award to honour the memory of
Robert A. MacNamara, an accomplished poet, talented raconteur, past chairman
and long time supporter and friend of the Fund.
This special award will be
given to someone of Irish ancestry that excels in
the area of literature and/or arts.
