On Thursday December 1st, the Irish America magazine
Business 100 Awards Luncheon was held at the St.
Francis Hotel in San Francisco. Sponsored by The
American Ireland Fund, this event recognized the
West Coast 25 honorees. The stormy weather didn't
deter a group of enthusiastic friends of the Fund
from attending and the atmosphere was both festive
and congratulatory. John Ryan, Chairman of Macrovision
was the recipient of the Spirit of Ireland Award.
This award is given to honor the life and work of
those who embody the heart, soul and true spirit
of the Irish – resourcefulness, generosity,
and commitment to family and community. John Hartnett,
Senior VP for Global Operations at Palm, Inc. was
the keynote speaker.
Regional Director, Marjorie Muldowney, praised Irish
America magazine on a terrific list of honorees,
recognizing some of the best and brightest Irish
Americans. "Throughout the U.S., our people
have significant influence and affluence too." said
Muldowney. "What we share with them is a fondness
for our heritage and a desire to turn that goodwill
into practical support for great people and great
projects."
