Minister Noel Dempsey Visits San Francisco

On Friday March 10th, Noel Dempsey T.D., Ireland's Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources began a week long mission to the West Coast. The Board Members of the American Ireland Fund in San Francisco hosted a dinner at The Village Pub in Woodside to welcome the Minister to the Bay Area. Although the inclement weather brought the rare sight of sleet and hailstones to the region, the atmosphere at the Pub was warm and crackling!

Local Board Members Pauline Ryan, Bill Walsh of Sequoia Associates, and Jon Folan of Folan Capital Partners were on hand to greet everyone along with John Ryan of Macrovision and Jane Walsh. They were joined by John Hartnett of Palm, Inc., Bob Ferris of Caxton Iseman Capital along with his wife, Evie, and Bob Berry of Alterpoint with Sandy Berry. Also present were David Helfrich, Garnett Helfrich Venture Capital, Diane Roberts of Enterprise Ireland, and Anne and Dermot Tuohy of IDA Ireland.

Regional Director of The American Ireland Fund, Marjorie Muldowney, praised the Minister for his efforts to improve the environment in Ireland, particularly his very successful levy on plastic bags, which has virtually eliminated them from supermarkets throughout the country.
