Joanne Hayes-White
Distinguished Leadership Award
In 2004, Joanne Hayes-White was appointed 25th Chief of the San Francisco Fire Department,
the largest urban fire department in the world with a female chief. Chief Hayes-White is a
San Francisco native and has been a member of the Department since 1990 following her
graduation from the University of Santa Clara with a degree in business.
Joanne serves on the boards of the American Red Cross-Bay Area Chapter, the Hibernia-Newman Club and Mercy High School San Francisco. She is the devoted mother of Riley, Logan and Sean and traces her Irish roots to Counties Limerick, Cork and Kerry. Joanne Hayes-White personifies the spirit of those Irish who left their ancestral home and helped build the American nation. |
