Washington DC - “Samhain: An Irish Halloween” Celebration : 10.29.09

• more info on event >

The American Ireland Fund DC Young Leaders gathered on Thursday, October 29th for the First Annual “Samhain: An Irish Halloween” Celebration.

Over 125 Friends of Ireland were kindly received by the Ambassador and his staff at the Embassy of Ireland.

For the event, the Embassy of Ireland was transformed into a haunted house where partygoers had the opportunity to participate in food and beverage tastings, raffles and contests. Guests were encouraged to wear festive masks and compete for prizes, which were award to individuals with the best mask.

The crowd was warmly welcomed by Ambassador Michael Collins of the Republic of Ireland and Orla O’Hanrahan, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Ireland. Susan O’Neill, Regional Director of The American Ireland Fund introduced the newly appointed DC Young Leaders Co-Chairs, Molly McNamara and Reilly O’Conner. They cordially thanked the Young Leaders and guests for their strong support and encouraged guests to attend the future social and substantive events the organization will be hosting.

It was a festive evening at the Irish Embassy, filled with costumes and trick-or-treating! The evening provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the season while encouraging guests to toast to continued successes of the DC Young Leaders.

Many thanks to Ambassador Collins and the Irish Embassy for making the evening such a success!
