The DC Young Leaders of The American Ireland Fund gathered for their First Annual Capital Christmas Celebration on Tuesday, December 9th.  This growing group has had a tremendous response in the DC Area and guests toasted with friends, new and old, to future successes.

The Fairmont in Washington provided the perfect backdrop with its twinkling Christmas Garden.  Partygoers had the opportunity to participate in the raffle with prizes such as a personalized inscription in former President Clinton’s book Giving, a Giffords’ Ice Cream & Candy Basket and Washington Capitals Tickets.  A door prize of fine Belleek Irish China ornaments was also offered.  Irish Christmas music set the tone early on, but once the Christmas spirit overtook the crowd it was straight to the dance floor.

Over150 Friends of Ireland gathered to mingle and learn more about The Ireland Funds and Kieran McLoughlin, President & CEO of The American Ireland Fund, shared the mission of the Fund and the importance of the Young Leaders’ support.  Megan Farrell from the Washington-Ireland Fund joined the night and highlighted her appreciation for the integral support the Fund has provided their six-month program of personal and professional development that brings outstanding university students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to Washington, DC for a summer internships and leadership training.

It was a festive evening with energy and excitement provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the season and kick off the planning fora significant Spring Event.
