Sydney Garden Party 2001
Following the tragic events of September 11, the
Board of The Australian Ireland Fund came to the view
that we should express our support for the people
of the United States and that we should reciprocate
their generosity to Ireland.
We determined that the profits from our major fundraising
event, the Sydney Garden Party held last October,
would be directed to the Disaster Relief Fund created
by The American Ireland Fund. This fund assisted community
support groups in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia,
who are working to alleviate hardship caused by the
terrorist attacks.
We thank our many supporters for recognising the
appropriateness of this decision.
