Rugby, Rowing and Racing in Melbourne.
On Sunday 12 October 2003 the Melbourne Gala luncheon was held at the Mercantile Rowing Club on the banks of the Yarra River. It was a lovely afternoon with a splendid view of the Melbourne skyline from the Club where over 200 guests enjoyed an afternoon of FUN.

Taking full advantage of our surrounds the day kicked off with a rowing race between a rugby, rowing and racing team on the Yarra to the delight of guests who watched from the balcony and along the banks of the river.

The day was a financial success thanks to our major sponsors, Buspak Advertising, Steve O'Connor; Cody Outdoor; "Sydney" Charles Curran; Australian Rugby Union and last but not least, Lauda Air, Richard Froggatt. Richard, major sponsor and Governor of the Fund, really got into the swing of things, bidding for - and almost - buying everything!! Thank you to Raphael Geminder for bidding for the Lauda Air Business class tickets to Ireland via Vienna and to Frank Hargrave, Skilled Engineering, for bidding for the Buspak and Cody Advertising package.

As the Rugby World Cup has just started here in Australia, one of the highlights of the live auction was the six tickets to the Ireland Vs Australia game in Melbourne on 1 November 2003. Thank you to Richard Froggatt for creating the excitement around this package. Another item was an Irish Rugby World Cup jersey signed by all of the Irish squad.

Thank you to our other sponsors, Harrigans Irish Pub, Emerald Travel, Village Cinemas, RACV, Melbourne Aquarium, The Boulevard Hotel Sydney, Scotchman's Hill Wines, Moonee Valley Racing Club, Bonds, Tontine, Sunbeam, Ernst & Young, BIAM, Avis, Merrion Hotel Dublin, Guinness, Jamesons, Baileys Irish Cream, The Right Invite, The Essendon Football Club, The Melbourne Football Club, The Celtic Club, The Celtic Farm Wines.

To our table captains, Brendan Donohoe, Richard Froggatt, Tony Fry, Ted Johnson, Teresa Keating, Kevin Luscombe Patrick Moloughney, Brendan O'Brien, Patrick O'Brien, Steve O'Connor, Cameron O'Reilly, Richard Pratt AC, Mary Waldron - thank you!
