The Australian Ireland Fund held its annual Sydney
Supporter’s Lunch on Monday 24 July, kindly
hosted by Mr. Steven Bosiljevac of PricewaterhouseCoopers
at their offices on Sussex Street, Sydney, overlooking
beautiful Darling Harbour.
The supporter’s Lunch was attended by 50 people
and provided an opportunity to thank all our supporters
for their hard work and continued assistance over
the past 12 months and to highlight the need for
their continued support in the year to come. The
Lunch was also a chance to inform guests about our
Brisbane Garden Party on 30 July 2006, and to launch
the Sydney Garden Party on Sunday 29 October which
will again take place at the beautiful harbourside
home of Lady Mary Fairfax AC OBE.
The lunch was attended by Australian Ireland Fund
Chairman Mr. Charles Curran AC, Irish Consul General
Mr. Patrick Scullion, also in attendance were our
Corporate Governors Mr. Peter Collins, Qantas and
Mr. John Vasilj, Mercedes-Benz.
Governors present were Mr. David Clarke AO, Mr. Pierce
Cody, Mr. Peter Hunt, Mrs. Mary Lee, Mrs. Dympna
Matthews, Mr. Cameron O’Reilly and Mr. and
Mrs. Ron and Helen Porter. Benefactors present were
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Anita Cowan, Mr. Bernard
Curran, Ms. Teresa Keating, Mr. Patrick Lynam, Mr.
Kevin McCann OAM, Mr. Jas Mooney, Ms Donna Mullins
and Rory O’Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Scott and Amanda
Riedel. Other major sponsors in attendance were Mr.
Bob Longwell, Australian Radio Network,
Ms. Maureen McCarthy, Ms. Julie McIntosh of Classic

Special mention should be made of APN News
and Media Group represented at the Lunch
by Mr. Richard Herring, Chief Executive, for their
wonderful and continuing contributions and support
of the Australian Ireland Fund. APN have
been major supporters of the Australian Ireland
Fund since its inception.
The afternoon also provided The Australian Ireland
Fund with an opportunity to congratulate our Chairman,
Mr. Charles Curran AC who received a Companion of
the Order of Australia on the Queen’s Honours
List this year, for service to business and commerce
as a leader in promoting a dynamic and competitive
financial sector and dialogue between business and
government, and to the community in setting the strategic
direction for many sporting, arts, not-for-profit
and health care organisations.
