The Australian Ireland Fund Melbourne Supporter’s Reception took place on Tuesday 12 December in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Boardroom overlooking Southbank to welcome the new Ambassador of Ireland H.E. Máirtín O’Fainín to Australia.

New Australian Ireland Fund Director Mary Waldron was the host of the event and welcomed guests on the evening. Kevin Luscombe AM gave guests an update on the activities of The Australian Ireland Fund and the projects of integrated education that we support in Northern Ireland. He then introduced Ambassador O’Fainín who told guests a little of the history of Northern Ireland and the Peace Agreement of 1998. He confirmed that while the peace agreement is in place and progress is being made, there is a long way to go and the work of The Australian Ireland Fund is vital.

The Ambassador thanked supporters on his own behalf and that of the Irish Government and encouraged guests to continue their support of our activities.
