On March the 8th 2007, Lady Mary Fairfax opened up her beautiful home ‘Fairwater’ once again to the Australian Ireland Fund, with its amazing Sydney harbour views, as a venue for the Ambassador, His Excellency Máirtín Ó Fainín to host the annual Australian Ireland Fund supporters reception.

A string quartet from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music provided entertainment for the 100 guests in attendance on the night. Among them were the Consul General of Ireland, Pat Scullion and Vice Consul, Louise Kelly, Australian Ireland Fund Chairman, Charles Curran AC and Directors of the Australian Ireland Fund, Cameron O’Reily, Jane Cosgrove, Breige Tuite, Ron Porter, Peter Ryan, Jack O’Mahony, Mary Waldron and Teresa Keating, Executive Director of the Australian Ireland Fund.

Charles Curran AC gave the attendees an update on the work which is being carried out in Northern Ireland projects, funded by our wonderful sponsors and generous donors. He spoke of each of the current projects being supported and thanked our Governors and Benefactors as well as our Major Sponsors APN News and Media, Mr. Richard Herring, Qantas and Mercedes Benz, Mr. Chris Knapp and supporters.

Other majors supporters in attendance included.  Mr. Bob Longwell of Australian Radio Network, Mr. Mike Lattin of Globecast Australia,  Ms. Maureen McCarthy, Mr. Gabriel McDowell, Ms. Monica Nerney Tourism Ireland and The O’Brien Family

The Ambassador His Excellency Máirtín ÓFainín also addressed the crowd and shared the appreciation of the Irish Government and its people for all the money raised to help the numerous projects for Integrated education in Northern Island.
