March 12 : St. Patrick's Luncheon
2004
Send any photo as an ecard to your friends!
Under the leadership of Mark Purdy, Vice Chair of the
Board and an industrious group of volunteers, the St. Patrick’s
Day Luncheon was attended by a record number of guests
from the Irish Community, Corporate Canada and friends
of The Fund, totaling over 1,400 people.
The success of the event was certainly aided by the beautiful
presence of Miss World 2003, Rosanna Davison and Miss Canada
2003, Nazanin Afshin-Jam. The Irish Ambassador Martin Burke,
British High Commissioner, David Reddaway, Patrons, John
Dunne, Edward McConnell and The Honourable John N Turner,
the 17th Prime Minister of Canada joined William J. Neill
and other special guests at the Head Table to host the
afternoon of good food, live entertainment and back by
popular demand Irish comedian, Brendan Grace. Guests included
Former Lord Mayor Alex Maskey, Colm and Deirdre Wilkinson,
Geoffrey Berg, British Consul General, Dickie Rock and
Kingsley Aikins.
Pillar sponsor Diageo Canada helped to enhance the day
with their customized Guinness traditional Irish bar and
Air Canada, Tourism Ireland with Air Transat and Joseph
Gottdenker helped to make the event successful from a fund
raising perspective.
The party started at 11:00am and ended after 5:00pm when
it spilled out to favorite local Irish pubs. A wonderful
way to begin the St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations by
all in Toronto!
