Altan Concert 2002

March 7th 2002 saw Ireland's traditional supergroup 'Altan' perform for The Ireland Fund of Canada at Toronto's Massey Hall.

The haunting quality of the voice of Mairéad Ni Mhaonaigh contrasted sharply with the toe-tapping and foot-stomping jigs and reels belted out in true Donegal style with precision, speed and elegance.

So tight was the musicianship of this remarkable band that they never missed a note or skipped a beat all evening.

The concert was a superb occasion that forced Toronto's normally reserved audience to its feet, for not one, but three standing ovations.

The Ireland Fund of Canada was proud to bring this remarkable band to the fair city of Toronto.
