Always the consummate host, Charlie Coffey, O.C., Executive
Vice President for the RBC Financial Group generously held
a party for our sponsors and friends of The Ireland Fund
of Canada on Friday, October 28 th. The party was the unofficial
launch to the WineGeese Society in Canada highlighting
the wines of the WineGeese, art and music of our local
Toronto Irish community.
Our dear friend, John Maxwell, Proprietor of Allen’s
Restaurant kindly worked to ensure a beautiful lunch event
by selecting the perfect wines for the tasting and then
to accompany our delicious meal. The artists Dora Keogh,
Edward O’Connor and William C. Smith brought a selection
of their work to showcase the talents of our community
while Kelly Hood and Pat Simmonds played traditional Irish
music for our guests.
Charlie Coffey called upon the guests that represented
groups supported by The Ireland Fund of Canada: St. Patrick’s
Day Parade Society, Queen of Puddings Production of “Midnight
Court”, Ana Livia Production of “Bloomsday”,
Toronto Irish Players. Susan Storey, Chair called upon
Mark Dowds, Director and Chair of the “Bring A Kid
to Camp” to speak to the success of the August 2005
peace and reconciliation youth leadership programme. The
Ireland Fund of Canada is most grateful to Mr. Coffey,
O.C. the Royal Bank Financial Group, John Maxwell and our
guests and sponsors who made the event a tremendous start
to a new society of friends for the Fund.
