On August 13th, under beautiful sunny skies, the Ireland Fund of Canada hosted “A Party in the Park” for the young leaders of “Building Bridges, Breaking Borders”. The Party was held at Ireland Park which commemorates where famine immigrants from Ireland landed in 1847.

“Building Bridges, Breaking Borders” is a youth leadership program focused on giving influential young leaders from Ireland a voice in society. The programme is funded by Ireland Fund of Canada and hosted by Muskoka Woods Camp.

These young leaders enjoyed spending the last day of their stay with a delicious BBQ in Ireland Park while hearing moving speeches from Mark Dowds, IFOC Director and liaison for “Building Bridges, Breaking Borders”, Robert Kearns, Chair of Ireland Park Foundation and Susan Storey, Chair IFOC. In turn our guests enjoyed the speeches from a few of the young leaders about their experiences while participating in the programme.

The Ireland Fund of Canada congratulates Muskoka Woods Camp for a wonderful job hosting the programme and is grateful to the Sponsor of “Party in the Park”, Shopsy’s and to Ireland Park for permitting us to have the BBQ in the park. .

About...
An Opportunity to Meet the Twenty-Four Young Leaders in a Canada/Ireland Leadership Endeavour

Building Bridges, Breaking Borders is a youth leadership program focused on giving influential young leaders from Ireland a voice in society.

These young people come from diverse backgrounds and geographical areas. Each young leader has earned the right to be a part of this program by showing leadership capacity within their local areas. The program will focus on helping them communicate more effectively, and learn the skills necessary for enhanced cross-border relations and stronger engagement in their local communities.
