"If we are to build a future
in Northern Ireland,
it will not only be built by the politicians,
it will be built by you,
the men and women of Northern Ireland
from all backgrounds.
More importantly, it will be built by the heritage
that you give to the boys and girls
who are growing up
and who are with integrated schools today."
Secretary of State
speaking at the opening of the new
Cranmore Integrated Primary School, June 2002
Integrated Schools aim to bring together pupils, staff
and governors, drawn equally from both Protestant and Catholic
backgrounds. They are coeducational and welcome children
of all abilities. Schools are open to children with disabilities,
those of different race and creed and those who have no
religious affiliation.
The Ireland Fund of Canada is proud to support The Integrated
Schools Programme throughout Northern Ireland as part of
its mission to promote peace and reconciliation.
