A Memorandum of Understanding
for bilateral scholarship exchanges between Ireland and
Canada was signed in Ottawa on March 18 by the Ireland
Canada University Foundation and the Ireland Fund of
Canada, in the presence
of Taoiseach
Bertie Ahern of Ireland and Prime
Minister Paul Martin of Canada, following their meeting
at the EU Canada summit.
This Memorandum of Understanding inaugurates
the bilateral scholarships awards programme of 2004,
when, for the first time in the history of the two countries,
scholarships are being awarded in both directions to
support research into projects which have relevance to
both Ireland and Canada.
