Le Bal des Oies Sauvages 2002        English

Traditionnellement organisé à la veille du mach de Rugby France-Irlande qui vit la France s'adjuger cette année le Grand Chelem, le Bal des Oies Sauvages déroula ses fastes dans les prestigieux salons du Pavillon d'Armenonville à Paris, le 5 avril 2002.

L'enthousiasme et l'attention aux moindres dé tails déployés par Annick et Pierre Joannon en firent un des évènements marquants parmi les plus élégants de la saison auquel assistaient plus de 300 invités dont le Président international des Ireland Funds, Sir Anthony O'Reilly; la Présidente d'honneur de l'Ireland Fund de France, Lady Chryss O'Reilly ; la Présidente de l'American Ireland Fund, Loretta Brennan Glucksman; ainsi que plusieurs Ministres, Ambassadeurs, Sénateurs, écrivains et hommes d'affaires désireux d'apporter leur soutien au resserrement des liens entre la France et l'Irlande.

L'invité d'honneur récipiendaire du Trophée des Oies Sauvages fut le Prix Nobel Seamus Heaney qui prononça un émouvant discours à la gloire des Ireland Funds qui par leur action permettent de garder foi en l'homme et en sa destinée solidaire.

Traditionally held on the eve of the France-Ireland rugby match that saw France win the Grand Slam, this year's Wild Geese Ball took place in the glamorous surroundings of the Pavillon d'Armenonville in Paris.

Annick and Pierre Joannon's sheer enthusiasm and attention to detail made it one of the most elegant and successful events with over 300 guests in attendance, including the worldwide chairman of The Ireland Funds, Sir Anthony 'OReilly, Patron of The Ireland Fund of France Lady Chryss 'OReilly, Chairman of The American Ireland Fund Loretta Brennan Glucksman, Ministers, Ambassadors, Senators, writers and business executives eager to show their support of the Franco-Irish links.

The guest of honor and Wild Geese Award Winner was Nobel Prize Laureate Seamus Heaney, who delivered a moving speech praising the work of The Funds, declaring:

"It is as if at our moment of success some old wisdom of the race reasserted itself, an old law of human reality that says the way up and the way down is where we all meet, that we must keep faith with one another as a human family."
