The Ireland Fund of France Wild Geese Gala Dinner Paris : 2008

The 2008 Wild Geese Gala Dinner of the Ireland Fund of France was held, on the eve of the French presidency of the European Union, in the prestigious surroundings of the Irish Embassy, a superb hotel particular standing in the Avenue Foch, one of the most famous thoroughfares of the French capital. It was a major Franco-Irish event with a distinct European flavor.

A hundred personalities or so were greeted by Irish Ambassador to France Anne Anderson and Chairman of the Ireland Fund of France Pierre Joannon. The guest of honor, French Minister of State for European Affairs Jean Pierre Jouyet received the Wild Geese Award of the Ireland of France for his role in the strengthening of the links between the member states of the European Union.

In the attendance one could spot the Irish Minister of State for Trade and Commerce John McGuinness, General Patrick Nash, Irish commanding officer of EUFOR, the European interposition force operating in Chad, the French Ambassador in Ireland  Yvon Roé d'Albert, Michael Déon of the Académie française, the famous French TV presentor Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, former Ambassadors Patrick O’Connor and Frédéric Grasset, the secretary general of the Laboratoires Servier, Christian Bazantay, the President of Ricard SA, Philippe Savinel, the President of the Franco-Irish Chamber of Commerce Patrick Mellet, the Director of the Irish Cultural in Paris Sheila Pratchke, the Chairman of The Ireland Fund of Monaco Michael Fitzgerald, Hugo McNeill representing The Ireland Funds, Aine Ades who will take over the Preidency of The Ireland Fund of France next Autumn and Kingsley Aikins, representing The American Ireland Fund which supported the dinner.
