Rothe House
The Ireland Fund of France has assisted the restoration of Rothe House, the magnificent Tudor building built between 1594 and 1610 and later seat of the Confederation of Kilkenny. The house belonged to the family of the officers commanding the Rothe regiment of the Irish Brigade in France.

L'Ireland Fund de France a participé à la restauration de la Maison Rothe, splendide demeure de style Tudor édifiée entre 1594 et 1610, siège de la Confédération de Kilkenny, qui appartint à la famille des colonels-propriétaires du regiment de Rothe de la Brigade Irlandaise au service de la France.

The French Prison
Named after the 600 French soldiers imprisoned there who died in a fire in January 1747, the historic building known as "The French Prison" in Kinsale, has been restored with the aid of the Office of Public works and The Ireland Fund of France. It houses a Wine Museum displaying the importance of the historic trading links with Bordeaux.

La Prison Des Française
Ainsi nommée parce que 600 soldats français y périrent dans l'incendie de leurs cellues en janvier 1747, la "Prison des Français" de Kinsale a été restaurée avec l'aide du Ministère des Travaux Publics irlandais et de l'Ireland Fund de France. Elle abrite désormais un Musée du Vin qui perpétue les liens de Kinsale avec la France.

Charles de Gaulle
Twenty-five years after his historical visit to the area, a standing stone bearing an effegy of General de Gaulle was erected in the village of Sneem with the financial aid of The Ireland Fund of France. It was unveiled by the then Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dick Spring, in the presence of the French Ambassador, Admiral Flohic, former ADC of General de Gaulle, and the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of The Ireland Fund of France.

Charles de Gaulle
Vingt cinq ans aprés qu'il eût séjourné dans al régoin, une stèle à la mémoire de géneral de Gaulle, érigée grâce à une subvention de l'Ireland Fund de Frnace, a été in augurée à Sneem par le Vice-premier Ministre et Ministre des Affaires Etrangères Dick Spring, en présence de l'Ambassadeur de France, de l'Amiral Flohic, ancien aide de camp du général de Gaulle, du Président et du Vice-Président de l'Ireland Fund de France.

The Irish Colleges in Bordeaux and Nantes
In association with an Irish commemorative committee of the Irish Colleges which were scattered all over the continent during the 17th and 18th centuries, The Ireland Fund of France financed and erected bronze plaques on the sites of the Irish Colleges in Bordeaux and Nantes. They were officially unveiled by the Mayors of these cities in the presence of the Irish Ambassador to France.

En association avec un comité irlandais soucieux de rappeler le rôle important joué au XVIIe et au XVIIIe par les Collèges Irlandais disséminés sur le continent, l'Ireland Fund de Frnace a fair réaliser à ses frais, et scller sur les bâtiments abritant jadis les Collèges des Irlandais de Bordeaux et de Nantes, des plaques commémoratives en bronze qui furent in augurées en présence de l'Ambassadeur d'Irlande et des autorités locales.

The Big Fellow
The Ireland Fund of France organized the première in France of Neil Jordan's film "Michael Collins" at the cinema Gaumont Marignan on the Champs Elysées in Paris. As the author of the only biography in French of Michael Collins, Dr. Pierre Joannon, Chairman of The Ireland Fund of France, wrote part of the presentation booklet and contributed to the launching of the film in Bordeaux, Toulouse and Marseille.

L'Ireland Fund de France a ogranisé la première du film de Neil Jordan, "Michael Collins" au cinéma Gaumont Marignan à Paris. Pierre Joannon, président de l'Ireland Fund de France, auteur de l'unique biographie en français de Michael Collins, a également participé à la rédaction de la brochure de présentation et au lancement du film à Bordeaux, Toulouse et Marseille.

The Year of The French
In 1998, for the bicentenary of the landing of the French in Co. Mayo under the command of General Jean Joseph Amable Humbert, The Ireland Fund of France grant-aided the special session of the Humbert Summer School at which Dr. Pierre Joannon delivered a paper on this half-forgotten military campaign. The Ireland Fund of France also participated in the official commemorative events organized at Saint Nabord and Remirement, in the Vosges, where General Humbert was born.

L'Année Des Français
En 1998, à l'occasion du bicentenaire du débarquement sur les côtes du comté de Mayo d'un petit corps expéditionnaire français sous les ordres du général Jean-Joseph Amable Humbert, l'Ireland Fund de France a subventionné la session spéciale de la Jumbert Summer School à laquelle Pierre Joannon présenta une communication sur cette campagne militaire à demi-oubliée. Le président de l'Ireland Fund de France participa également aux cérémonies commémoratives organisées à Saint Nabord et à Remiremont dans les Vosges, où naquit le général Humbert.

General Lawless
In association with the Royal College of Surgeons of Dublin and the Irish Embassy, The Ireland Fund of France assisted the restoration in the cemetery of the Père Lachaise in Paris of the grave of William Lawless, United Irishman and General in Napoleon's Irish Legion. At the rededication of the tombstone, military honors were given by the French army and a wreath was laid by the Minister of State Mrs. Avril Doyle, in the presence of the Irish Defense Forces Chief of Staff and the Irish Ambassador to France.

En association avec le Royal College of Surgeons et l'Ambassade d'Irland, l'Ireland Fund de Frnace a financé la restauration au cimetière du Père Lachaise de la tombe de William Lawless, membre de la société révolutionnaire des Irlandais Unis et général de brigade dans la Légion Irlandaise de Napoléon. Les honneurs militaires lui furent rendus par l'Armée française en présence de Mme Avril Doyle, Ministre d'Etat irlandais, du chef d'Etat Major de l'Armée irlandaise et de l'Ambassadeur d'Irlande.
