L'Ireland Fund de France a octroyé une subvention à l'Association "The Lotus Eaters", de Beausoleil afin de financer le voyage de trois musiciens irlandais dans le cadre de la célébration de la Saint Patrick 2002.

En présence des autorités locales, de l'Ambassadeur d'Irlande en France, du Président de l'Association des Amis des Collèges Irlandais et du Trésorier de l'Ireland Fund de France, une plaque apposée sur l'immeuble du Service de la Navigation du Nord Pas-de-Calais fut inaugurée le 24 mai 2002 à l'effet de commémorer le Collège des Irlandais de Lille qui s'élevait en ce lieu au XVIIe et au XVIIIe siècles.

L'Ireland Fund de France a octroyé une subvention à l'Association Française du Poney Connemara à l'occasion du "Championnat de France Connemara" qui s'est tenu à Poitiers les 24 et 25 août 2002.

L'Ireland Fund de France a octroyé une subvention au St John's Theatre and Arts Centre de Listowel, Co. Kerry, afin d'exposer, au mois de septembre 2002, les oeuvres picturales d'un artiste français à qui fut demandé d'animer des ateliers d'initiation à la peinture dans quatre écoles secondaires du Nord-Kerry.

L'Ireland Fund de France a octroyé une subvention à la Compagnie Théâtrale Harum-Scarum pour la représentation à Dublin, du 7 au 12 octobre 2002, de "Executioner n° 14", un monologue d'Adel Hakim interprété par Frédéric Dalmasso dans une mise en scène de Jeremiah Cullinane.

Eurociné, le Festival de Cinéma Européen de Cognac, avait demandé à M. Pierre Joannon, président de l'Ireland Fund de France, de choisir et présenter du 11 au 13 octobre 2002, une sélection de longs métrages représentatifs du cinéma irlandais contemporain. Cette mani-festation, organisée au siège de la Société Hennessy à Cognac, remporta un très vif succès.

A cette occasion un hommage fut rendu à Michel Déon de l'Académie Française dont le roman "Un Taxi Mauve" fut porté à l'écran par Yves Boisset; ainsi qu'au grand metteur en scène irlandais Neil Jordan qui subjugua un public nombreux et passionné en présentant et commentant deux de ses plus importantes réalisations: "Michael Collins" et "The Butcher Boy".

L'Ireland Fund de France a octroyé une subvention à la Rhine Valley Irish Association d'Orbey à l'effet d'inviter deux professeurs des Universités de Cork et de Galway à un week-end culturel irlandais les 9 et 10 novembre 2002.

L'Ireland Fund de France a octroyé une subvention à Cinéfrance, festival du film français organisé par le Film Institute of Ireland en collaboration avec le Service Culturel de l'Ambassade de France. Du 28 novembre au 8 décembre 2002, 41 longs métrages français passèrent sur les écrans du Irish Film Centre.

Jeanne Moreau, invitée d'honneur de cette édition, inaugura le festival avec une sélection de ses films; et le célèbre réalisateur Patrick Leconte présenta en clôture deux de ses plus récentes réalisations : "Rue des Plaisirs" et "L'Homme du Train".

The Ireland Fund of France has given a grant to "The Lotus Eaters", an association based in Beausoleil in the South of France, to cover the travel expenses of three Irish musicians invited to play for the St Patrick's day celebration 2002.

In the presence of local authorities, the Irish Ambassador to France, the chairman of the Friends of the Irish College in France, and of the Treasurer of the Ireland Fund of France, a plaque was unveiled in Lille on the 24th of May 2002 to commemorate The Irish College which was active there throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Ireland Fund of France has grant- aided the Association Française du Poney Connemara and the French Connemara Championship which took place in Poitiers on the 24th and 25th of August 2002.

The Ireland Fund of France has given a grant to St John's Theatre and Arts Centre Listowel for the setting up in September 2002 of a painting exhibition by Arthure, a French artist who also directed workshops in four second level schools in North Kerry.

The Ireland Fund of France has grant-aided the Harum-Scarum Theatre Company which staged in Dublin "Executioner n°14", a monologue by Adel Hakim directed by Jeremiah Cullinane with Frédéric Dalmasso.

Pierre Joannon, chairman of the Ireland Fund of France, was asked by Eurociné, the European Film Festival of Cognac, to choose and introduce a selection of significant Irish feature films.

This very successful festival which took place between the 11th and the 13th of October 2002 on the Hennessy premises in Cognac paid homage to Michel Déon of the Académie Française whose novel "The Purple Taxi" was adapted to the screen by Yves Boisset, and to Irish film director Neil Jordan who captivated a numerous and enthusiastic audience by introducing and commenting two of his most important features: "Michael Collins" and "The Butcher Boy".

The Ireland Fund of France supported the week-end of Irish studies organised by the Rhine Valley Irish Association at the beginning of November 2002.

The Ireland Fund of France has grant-aided Cinefrance, a French film festival organised by The Film Institute of Ireland in collaboration with the Cultural Service of the French Embassy. The festival which took place at the Irish Film Centre between the 28th of November and the 8th of December 2002 offered a diverse and enticing programme of 41 Features Films.

Jeanne Moreau, guest of honour, inaugurated the opening of a selective retrospective of her work; and the famous director, Patrick Leconte, introduced two of his most recent films: "Rue des Plaisirs" and "L'Homme du Train".
