Chairman of The Ireland Fund of Germany since December 2006, Elmar Conrads-Hassel was born in Bonn, Germany in 1955. He studied Law, Economics and Management Sciences at the Universities of Bonn and Speyer and at the Open Univerisity in Hagen. He finished his studies with the First State Exam in Law in Bonn in 1980. Since 1983 he is member of the Bar in Bonn.

For 15 years he has been working for various Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Germany (Hagen, Cologne) and abroad (Seoul / South Korea, Johannesburg / South Africa and Dublin / Republic of Ireland), most often in the position of Managing Director.

Since October 1999, he is self-employed as an Attorney-at-Law in Bonn. He is non-executive Director of several companies and trusts and founding President of the German Irish Lawyers and Business Association (GILBA).

Elmar Conrads-Hassel is happily maried with University lecturer Dr. Ursula Hassel and has a 15 year old son.
