13 Sept 2004 : Terry Wogan Golf Tournament

Terry Wogan once again chaired The Ireland Fund
of Great Britain’s golf event committee this
year. Every year, Terry mentions The IFGB golf tournament
on his radio breakfast show, which has the largest
radio audience in Europe, before donning his well
worn panama hat and speeding out to Hertfordshire
in time for the shotgun start.
Every year, as soon
as Terry arrives at the club, the rain stops and
the clouds part to reveal glorious blue skies and
sunshine.
This year was no exception – much
to the relief of all the players and our loyal sponsors;
Anglo Irish Bank, Ballymore Properties and Doonbeg
Golf Club. Ruari Conneeley of Anglo Irish Bank and
Paul Brennan of Develica Property Management Ltd
joined Terry on the 2004 committee and have already
begun preparations to ensure that this increasingly
popular event is even bigger and better in 2005.
Let’s hope Terry and his panama hat can work
their magic on the weather once again!
