The Ireland Funds London City
Luncheon was attended by over 400 of the City of
London's leading business people. The key-note speaker
was An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern TD who was introduced
by Peter Sutherland, Chairman of The Ireland Fund
of Great Britain and BP plc.
An Taoiseach' speech>
Between 10 and 20% of
the homeless in London's boroughs are Irish - many
of them came to the UK in the 50's but are no longer
able to work and find themselves in difficult, sometimes
tragic circumstances. Peter Sutherland stated that
The Ireland Fund of Great Britain is particularly
anxious to help our less fortunate countrymen in
Britain and he referred to Cricklewood Homeless Concern
as a prime example of the type of organisations being
supported by The IFGB.
The IFGB is particularly grateful to Anglo Irish
Bank Corporation who sponsored the Luncheon.
