Tsunami Appeal
Many of you have expressed an interest in helping
those affected by the Tsunami of December 26th.
If you are interested in supporting the work of
Irish organisations, the following are already
operating their own teams or funding operations
run by their partner organisations in the affected
areas. We attach web-links for your convenience.

GOAL The agency already has aid workers in place
in India and Sri Lanka. Tamil Nadu, India: GOAL has
also established 18 “community kitchens” in
the Tamil Nadu area of India, feeding on average
500 people per kitchen three times a day for the
next 30 days. In total, GOAL is feeding 75,000 people
and providing medical care at each food distribution
point. The local authorities in this district have
asked GOAL to help with the construction of 3,300
houses at a cost of €500,000. Sri Lanka: GOAL
is providing emergency relief assistance in three
areas of Sri Lanka; in Ampara on the East Coast,
Hambantota on the South East of the island and Matara
where they are implementing public health and engineering

CONCERN Concern teams are working with local partners
to meet the needs of families in the devastated coastal
villages of Tamil Nadu, the worst affected state
in India. Homes, possessions and the means to a livelihood
were all swept away by 10 metre high waves. Donations
of €50 will provide a Survival Pack that includes:
Baby food, Basic shelter materials, 2 blankets, 50kg
firewood, 25kg rice, 2 buckets, Basic items of clothing.

TROCAIRE Trocaire’s partners have been distributing
emergency relief aid such as the provision of temporary
shelter, food, clothing and medical assistance.
