An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, to speak at
London City Luncheon

The Ireland Fund of Great Britain is delighted to
announce the
re-launch of The Ireland Funds London City Luncheon,
one of
the most prestigious dates in our worldwide calendar
of
events.
This year’s key-note speaker will be An Taoiseach
Bertie Ahern.
First held in 1993, The London City Luncheon traditionally
took place in early November, and now from 2005 ,
the event will be held in March. The venue remains
the spectacular
Rubens decorated Banqueting House on Whitehall,
just moments from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
This event also marks the beginning of an important
new partnership with Anglo Irish Bank, the main sponsor
of the event.

The Banqueting House in Whitehall Palace was designed
by Inigo Jones for James I and completed in 1622
for occasions of state, plays, and masques. The
ceiling was commissioned by Charles I from the Flemish
painter
Peter Paul Rubens to celebrate the reign of his
father. It was installed in 1635, and remains there
today
as the only one of Rubens's major decorative commissions
still surviving intact in its original location.
