Welcome
We were happy to say welcome on behalf of The Funds to Senator Hilary Clinton, Dan Tully and Mikhail Gorbachev, who received an honorary doctorate from Trinity College Dublin.

Ireland responds to the Call
The atrocity of September 11 had a huge impact in Ireland. This was reflected in the observance of the national Day of Mourning and also a keen desire to offer practical help.

We were asked to raise $150,000 as part of The Ireland Funds' Worldwide commitment to raise $1 million. In the event, $200,000 was raised. This was contributed by:

Independent News & Media -the company and readers
Dublin Chamber of Commerce
Citibank and employees
The Confederation of International Banks in Ireland
The IBEC Confederation
The Merrion Hotel
Irish Tourist Industry Confederation
Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce
The Institute of Directors
The Confederation of British Industry
The Restaurant Association of Ireland
The Ireland Funds'Advisory Committee

We are grateful to all of these different organisations from across the island, and also their employees and customers for the great support.

Irish Advisory Committee Member Honored
Ms. Barbara Fitzgerald, a long-standing member of The Advisory Committee, was recently honored by being conferred with a CBE.

This was in recognition of her decades of work with The Irish Association, which seeks to develop a better understanding of Ireland in Britain. Barbara received her award from HRH Prince Charles in Dublin.
